The Warren County Conservation District in conjunction with the USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service hosted a Conservation Tour for many years.  Transportation to the different sites and lunch were provided by the Conservation District.

The purpose of this tour was to educate the public about agriculture and conservation within Warren County.  Past tours have included a Rain Garden, Dirt and Gravel Road Projects, a stream electro-shocking demonstration, an unnatural trail, several farms, hands-on activities, and several other conservation practices.  The tour featured stops that explored the importance of the agricultural industry in Warren County, PA and other important conservation practices.  Participants learned about programs that help reduce nonpoint source pollution in their watersheds and what they can do to help with this ongoing issue.  They also received a packet of information and Fact Sheets that explained all of the topics discussed and had an opportunity to ask questions of our staff or the landowners involved.  This was an excellent opportunity for everyone to learn more about the important role that the Conservation District plays in promoting the wise use of Warren County’s natural resources.

Financial and other support for this project was provided by the Pennsylvania Association of Conservation Districts through a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection under Section 319 of the Clean Water Act, administered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
